Started in 2001, the .NAME generic top-level domain name extension is the single TLD supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domains can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are famous by. At the beginning, only third-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to secure john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already acquired 3rd-level domains remained running.

You will have the opportunity to change the WHOIS contacts, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already registered domain to our company if you get its EPP transfer code from the current registration service provider and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been completed. There are no specific rules on who can book a .NAME domain, but in order to maintain the goal behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry organization may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain, the registration might be challenged.
